Questions we hear most

IDRA Golf Simulator FAQs

How much does an IDRA golf simulator cost?

The IDRA II launch monitor is $5,995 on its own. A complete IDRA golf simulator package with an enclosure and impact screen starts at $7,294.99 with our SIG DIY Studio. Our SIG8, SIG10 and SIG12 packages pair the IDRA II with a full SIG studio and your choice of hitting mat or golf simulator flooring.

Plan for a gaming PC and software too. GolfIn lists GSPro at US$250 per year after the first year, which GolfIn includes with the purchase of one of its simulators. E6 Connect premium courses such as Oakmont and Pebble Beach are sold separately.

Who makes the IDRA launch monitor?

IDRA is made by GolfIn, a Canadian family-owned golf simulator maker based in Saint-Georges, Québec. GolfIn was founded in 2005 and started developing its own IDRA camera in 2019. The IDRA II, released in November 2024, is the second generation. You will see the brand written as GolfIn or Golfin, and the launch monitor as IDRA II or IDRA 2. They are the same product.

What does the IDRA II measure?

For the ball, the IDRA II reports ball speed, launch angle, back spin, side spin, spin axis, carry (game and raw), total distance, ball direction, deviation, peak height and descent angle. For the club, it reports club speed, club path, face angle to target, face angle to path, vertical impact point and smash factor.

It also gives video replay of each swing and a shot history, and GolfIn says it is built for short game and putting analytics as well as full swings.

How high do you mount the IDRA II? What ceiling height do I need?

The IDRA II mounts to the ceiling or overhead structure above the hitting area. GolfIn's spec sheet lists camera heights from 99 to 120 inches (about 8'3" to 10'), with the ball placed 52 to 63 inches from the camera depending on the height. For example, at 100 inches the ball sits about 52 1/2 inches from the camera.

You also need room to swing your longest club comfortably. The PC can be up to 25 feet from the camera. Our team can check your room dimensions before you order.

Does the IDRA II work with GSPro?

Yes. The IDRA II connects to GSPro, and GolfIn has built features into GSPro for IDRA owners: a swing analyzer, a default parameter configurator that applies your preferred settings to each round, and ball alignment that lines up the virtual ball with where it sits in the hitting area. The IDRA II also works with E6 Connect.

What computer do I need for the IDRA II?

For GSPro, GolfIn lists an Intel Core i7 (10th gen or newer) with at least 16 logical processors, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 or better, 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage as the minimum. For 4K, it recommends an RTX 4070 or newer, 32 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. AMD processors and graphics cards are not supported.

The PC needs two USB 3.0 ports and one USB-C port, high-speed internet, and a direct USB connection to the camera with no extension cable.

Do I need special golf balls or marked clubs with the IDRA II?

No. The IDRA II uses AI-based tracking with no reflective dots or stickers, so you can hit your own clubs and regular golf balls. Built-in lighting lights up the 32 inch by 18 inch hitting zone, and the camera is calibrated once during installation with the included calibration board.

What is the IDRA Pro?

The IDRA Pro is a new launch monitor GolfIn previewed at the 2026 PGA Show. GolfIn describes it as designed to deliver expanded data capture and enhanced accuracy, with a release planned for 2026. As of October 2026, the IDRA II is the launch monitor listed on GolfIn's launch monitor page. Contact our team for IDRA Pro availability.

What warranty comes with the IDRA II?

The IDRA II comes with a 2-year warranty from GolfIn. In the box you get the IDRA II camera, a calibration board, a mounting plate, screws and anchors for wood or drywall, and, in North America, a wireless remote switch. Contact our team if you need help with a warranty claim.
