Questions we hear most

Trackman Golf Simulator FAQs

How much does a Trackman golf simulator cost?

Trackman launch monitors start at $13,995 for the Trackman iO with Home software and go up to the iO Duo and the Trackman 4. A complete Trackman golf simulator package with an enclosure and impact screen starts at $15,294.99 with the iO in our SIG DIY Studio.

Also budget for software after the first year. Trackman lists iO Home at $700 a year and iO Home Complete at $1,100 a year. The Trackman 4 software subscription is $1,100 a year, and an optional hardware subscription, which acts as the warranty, is $1,000 a year.

Trackman iO vs Trackman 4: which should I buy?

Choose the iO for a dedicated indoor simulator room. It mounts on the ceiling, uses radar plus high-speed cameras, calibrates itself every time it starts and works with any ball, no stickers needed. Choose the Trackman 4 if you also want to practice outdoors. It sits behind the golfer, runs 4+ hours on its battery and adds putting data with 25 putting parameters. Indoors it needs at least 16 ft from the unit to the net.

What's the difference between Trackman iO Home and Home Complete?

Both use the same iO hardware and the same 14 ball data parameters. Home ($700/yr) includes the Range, Target Practice, On-Course Practice, Performance Center, about 70 courses and 4 games, and shows club speed only. Home Complete ($1,100/yr) unlocks the full library of more than 550 courses, all games, Shot Analysis, 3D Motion Analysis, Tracy AI and full club data such as face angle, club path, dynamic loft and impact location.

Do you need a subscription for Trackman?

A new Trackman includes a 1-year software and hardware subscription. Trackman says some features are permanent and others need the yearly subscription, including access to its 500+ virtual courses and games. After the first year, renew the software plan that fits your use. The hardware subscription is separate and acts as the warranty, with repair costs covered by Trackman.

How much room do you need for a Trackman iO golf simulator?

Trackman recommends a ceiling of 10 ft or more, a room at least 15 ft wide and about 18 ft deep, with 10 ft or more between the ball and the screen. The iO itself can be calibrated for turf-to-ceiling heights from 8'10" to 10'6". There is no minimum distance in front of or behind the ball for tracking, so you only need room to swing.

What is the Trackman iO Duo?

The iO Duo is Trackman's iO setup for bays shared by right- and left-handed golfers. Trackman says it lets both comfortably use bays as narrow as 10 ft wide. It supports turf-to-ceiling heights from 9'4" to 10'6". If your room is narrower than 15 ft, Trackman suggests asking whether the iO Duo fits your space.

Can the Trackman 4 be used indoors and outdoors?

Yes. Trackman lists indoor and outdoor versatility for the Trackman 4, and its radar works day or night in any weather. Outdoors it tracks the full ball flight. Indoors, Trackman lists a minimum of 16 ft from the unit to the net and recommends about 18 ft from the screen to the unit. The Trackman iO is optimized for indoor use only.

How does Trackman work, and how accurate is it?

Trackman uses patented optically enhanced radar tracking (OERT). The Trackman 4 pairs two synchronized radars, one for club and impact data and one for ball flight. The iO combines Doppler radar with high-speed cameras under infrared light: the cameras measure angles and the radar measures depth and speed. Trackman says the iO measures the ball's 3D orientation to within one degree and recalibrates automatically every session.
