A 1.5 Inch Extension for Your Projector Mount Drop
The 1.5" Extension Pipe is a short, fixed-length 1.5" NPT threaded pipe that adds 1.5 inches (3.8 cm) to the drop of a projector mount. It is the QualGear Pro-AV extension pipe, in black (QualGear part number QG-PRO-PM-1.5IN-B) or white (QG-PRO-PM-1.5IN-W). It fits all mounts and ceiling adapters that use the standard 1.5" NPT interface.
Why a small extension matters
In a golf simulator the projector's height decides where the picture lands on the impact screen. A projector that sits an inch or two too high or too low pushes the image off the top or bottom of the screen, and correcting it digitally with keystone or lens shift costs picture quality. A short extension pipe moves the projector down by a fixed, repeatable amount, which is often all a setup needs to line the image up with the screen frame.
Specifications from QualGear
- Thread: standard 1.5" NPT
- Length: 1.5" (3.8 cm), fixed
- Maximum weight capacity: 800 lb (363 kg)
- Finish: black or white
- In the box: one threaded pipe in the selected color, with installation manual
What it fits
Because the threading is standard 1.5" NPT, the pipe completes a drop anywhere in the QualGear Pro-AV mounting system: it threads between a Pro-AV ceiling adapter and a QG-PRO-PM-50 series projector bracket. That includes our projector enclosure frame mount for the SIGPRO Commercial Enclosure, which is the QualGear truss kit with a 3" pipe; add this pipe to lower the projector by another 1.5", or swap pipes to set the drop you need. Any other mount or adapter with a 1.5" NPT interface takes it too.
For longer drops, QualGear makes the same pipe in longer fixed lengths, and a pipe connector (sold separately) joins two pipes. Pipes 6" and longer add a cable outlet opening; at 1.5" this pipe has none, so route the projector's cables along the outside of the mount.
Installing it
Thread one end into the ceiling adapter and the other into the projector bracket, hand-tight, then lock it with the set screws on the adapter and bracket so the projector cannot rotate. Confirm the projector's total drop before you hang it: measure from the ceiling or truss to where the center of the lens needs to be for your screen, and choose the pipe that gets you there.
Completing the mount
See our universal projector ceiling mount, the Mount-It! full motion mount and the Optoma OCM815 pole mount for other ways to hang a projector, and our projectors for golf simulators.
QualGear backs the pipe with a 5-year limited manufacturer's warranty (parts only).

Learn More About The 1.5" Extension Pipe for Universal Projector Mount

Small Change, Squarer Picture
Lining a projector up with an impact screen is a matter of inches. The top of the projected image has to meet the top of the screen frame, and the bottom has to land where the screen meets the floor or the enclosure. If the projector sits just a little too high, the picture spills over the frame; correcting that with keystone or zoom shrinks the image and softens it. A short extension pipe solves it mechanically. Threaded between the ceiling adapter and the projector bracket, this 1.5" pipe drops the projector by exactly 1.5" and keeps it there, so the setting is repeatable if the projector ever comes down for service. Because QualGear makes the same pipe in fixed lengths up to 36", a multi-bay facility can set every bay to the same drop. Measure from the ceiling or truss to the lens center your screen needs before you order.

Made for the QualGear Pro-AV System
The 1.5" NPT thread is QualGear's Pro-AV standard, which is why this pipe fits so many combinations. It threads into QualGear Pro-AV ceiling adapters and onto QG-PRO-PM-50 series projector brackets, the same bracket used in our projector enclosure frame mount for the SIGPRO Commercial Enclosure. That kit ships with a 3" pipe; adding or swapping in a different length changes the projector's height below the enclosure's front pipe without changing anything else. A pipe connector, sold separately, joins two pipes for longer drops. QualGear rates the pipe for up to 800 lb (363 kg), far more than any golf simulator projector weighs, so the limiting factor is always the mount and the structure above it. Pipes 6" and longer include a cable outlet; this 1.5" length does not, so run the HDMI and power cables along the outside of the mount.
