BenQ AK900ST: 6,000-lumen 4K short throw laser projector for golf simulators
The BenQ AK900ST is a 4K UHD short throw laser projector rated at 6,000 ANSI lumens, built for golf simulators and home entertainment bays. It sits at the top of BenQ's golf projector range in our golf simulator projector lineup, above the AK800ST and AK700ST.
True 4K picture tuned for golf
The native resolution is 4K UHD, 3840 x 2160, at a 16:9 native aspect ratio. BenQ quotes 8.3 million addressable pixels, 97% Rec. 709 colour coverage, 30-bit colour and a 3,000,000:1 contrast ratio. Golf Mode 2.0, the second generation of BenQ's golf picture mode, is joined by Bright Golf and HDR Golf, and a dedicated AI video processor tunes each frame. The projector also offers HDR10 and HLG picture modes, and an Ambient Light Enhancer uses the built-in camera to adjust colour and saturation to the light in your room.
Placement and throw distance
The 0.81 to 0.89 throw ratio lens has a 1.1x motorized zoom. BenQ's chart puts a 150-inch 16:9 image at 8.8 to 9.7 feet, a 180-inch image at 10.6 to 11.6 feet and a 200-inch image at 11.8 to 12.9 feet. Use our screen size calculator to check the distance for your screen.
Setup for awkward rooms
Four-way lens shift, vertical plus or minus 60% and horizontal plus or minus 23%, lets you mount the projector higher, lower or off center without losing optical resolution. 3D keystone correction of plus or minus 30 degrees, Corner Fit adjustment and Smart Warping for curved screens handle the rest. Auto Screen Fit 2.0 uses the camera to detect the shape and size of your impact screen, as long as the lens is within 13.1 feet of the screen center, and auto focus keeps the image sharp. Golf Scene Memory saves up to five profiles, so switching from golf to a movie or a game takes one button.
Sealed laser, low maintenance
The laser light source is rated for 20,000 hours in Normal mode and 30,000 hours in ECO mode. The IP5X sealed engine keeps dust out, with no filters to clean and no bulbs to replace, and BenQ rates the projector for 24/7 use.
Connections, size and warranty
Inputs include three HDMI ports, two of them HDMI 2.1 with 4K 60Hz and ALLM, one with eARC audio return. There are two USB-A ports, RJ45 LAN, RS232, a 3.5 mm audio out and a 10W chamber speaker with a 10W woofer. Input lag is 18.1 ms at 4K 60Hz and 4.8 ms at 1080p 240Hz. The body measures 20.5 x 13.8 x 6.5 inches (W x D x H) and weighs 22.5 lb. BenQ America covers it with a three-year parts and labor limited warranty.
