Craft Your Own Golf Simulator Experience

The Shop Indoor Golf DIY Enclosure is specifically designed for the budget-conscious individual who enjoys hands-on projects and possesses their own tools and materials. This comprehensive kit provides all the essential components found in our premium SIG Enclosures, with the key distinction that the pipe frame must be acquired separately. You can easily source the 1-inch EMT conduit from local hardware stores such as Lowe's or Home Depot, allowing you to customize your setup while managing costs. This approach makes it an ideal choice for those looking to build their own golf simulator without compromising on quality.

Included in this DIY package are crucial elements like the renowned SIGPRO Premium Screen, a sleek black surround, protective side barrier netting, and sandbags for stability. To facilitate assembly, the kit also contains 1-inch EMT canopy fittings, foam padding for enhanced safety, and 6-inch ball bungees for secure attachment. This thoughtful selection of components ensures a robust and professional-looking golf simulator setup once completed. For those who prefer a complete package with piping included, explore our full range of SIG Enclosures.

Unrivaled Impact Screen Performance

At the heart of this DIY kit is the SIGPRO Premium Impact Screen, a component celebrated for its exceptional durability and visual clarity. Independent, head-to-head testing conducted by MyGolfSpy revealed that the SIGPRO Premium Screen surpasses other popular impact screens on the market, demonstrating superior resilience against repeated golf ball impacts. This screen is engineered to withstand ball speeds up to 250 MPH, ensuring longevity and consistent performance for even the most powerful swings.

Beyond its robust construction, the SIGPRO screen significantly reduces both the sound generated upon impact and the ball's bounce-back, contributing to a quieter and safer playing environment. The screen is meticulously finished with double-stitched black vinyl edges and grommets, making mounting a straightforward process with the included 6-inch ball bungees. This attention to detail ensures a taut and wrinkle-free display, providing an immersive visual experience for your golf simulation. For more options, explore our range of golf impact screens, including the option for a Premier Impact screen for enhanced performance.

Comprehensive Safety and Aesthetics

The DIY Golf Simulator Enclosure kit prioritizes both player safety and the aesthetic appeal of your setup. The included SIG Surround, crafted from a durable vinyl material, seamlessly integrates with your screen and enclosure, providing a clean and polished appearance. This surround not only enhances the visual presentation but also contributes to containing stray shots within the hitting area.

To further protect your equipment and playing space, the kit incorporates protective foam padding. This padding attaches to the left, right, top, and bottom edges of your screen, safeguarding the poles behind the screen and surround from errant golf balls. Additionally, side barrier netting is provided to protect the surrounding area, preventing damage to walls or other objects from misdirected shots. Sandbags are also included to anchor the netting, ensuring it remains taut and effective in catching stray balls. This comprehensive approach to safety and design makes the DIY enclosure a smart choice for any home golf simulator. Consider adding golf simulator wall padding for extra protection.

Flexible Sizing for Your Space

The DIY Golf Simulator Enclosure is available in three distinct size options to accommodate various room dimensions and preferences. The 8' x 8' option, with physical dimensions of 8'4"H x 8'4"W x 5'D, is designed to fill approximately 80% of the screen with the projected image, making it a compact yet effective solution. For a more expansive view, the 8' x 10.5' option measures 8'4"H x 10'10"W x 5'D and fills 100% of the screen, offering a fully immersive experience.

The largest option, 9' x 12', boasts physical dimensions of 9'4"H x 12'2"W x 5'D and also fills 100% of the screen, providing an even grander display. These varying sizes ensure that you can select an enclosure that best fits your available space, whether you're setting up in a dedicated golf room or a multi-purpose area. For assistance in determining the ideal size for your setup, utilize our screen size calculator or consult our guide on how much space you need for a golf simulator.

Simplified Assembly with Quality Components

While designed for the DIY enthusiast, this enclosure kit simplifies the assembly process by including all necessary connectors and fittings. You'll receive three types of canopy fittings: two L-shaped connectors, six 3-way connectors, and three straight connectors. Each connector serves a specific purpose, ensuring a secure and stable framework once your 1-inch EMT piping is in place. These robust fittings are engineered to tightly secure your poles, contributing to the overall sturdiness of the enclosure.

The kit's design, similar to the easy-to-assemble frames found in our SIG8, SIG10, and SIG12 enclosures, ensures that putting together your golf simulator bay is a manageable task. Although the piping is sourced separately, the provided components are of high quality, mirroring those used in our complete golf simulator enclosures. For detailed instructions, a video guide and assembly manual are available to assist you through each step of the construction process.

Beyond the Enclosure: Building Your Complete Studio

The DIY Golf Simulator Enclosure serves as the foundational element for creating a fully functional golf simulation studio. Once your enclosure is assembled, you'll need to integrate a launch monitor to capture your swing data. This kit is compatible with a wide array of launch monitors, allowing you to choose the best fit for your budget and performance needs. To complete your setup, consider adding a high-quality golf mat, such as those from our SIGPRO golf mats collection, and landing pad turf for a realistic hitting experience.

For optimal visual projection, a golf simulator projector is essential. The SIG8 Golf Simulator Studio, for example, offers an optional projector with cables, highlighting the importance of this component for a complete experience. This DIY enclosure provides the flexibility to build out your studio piece by piece, allowing you to customize every aspect from the hitting surface to the projection system. Explore our full range of golf simulators to find inspiration for your ultimate indoor golf setup.

Who This Enclosure Is For

This DIY Golf Simulator Enclosure is ideal for the 'Do It Yourselfer' – individuals who are budget-minded and comfortable undertaking projects with their own tools and materials. If you enjoy the satisfaction of building something yourself and want to save on the cost of pre-assembled frames, this kit is perfectly suited for you. It provides a high-quality foundation for a golf simulator without the added expense of pre-cut and shipped piping.

It's also an excellent choice for those who have specific room dimensions that might not perfectly match standard enclosure sizes, as sourcing your own 1-inch EMT allows for greater flexibility in frame construction. This product empowers you to create a professional-grade golf simulator experience in your home, garage, or any suitable space, while maintaining control over the build process and overall investment. For those seeking guidance on building their own, our DIY golf simulator guide offers valuable insights.

Comparing with Other SIG Enclosures

The DIY Golf Simulator Enclosure offers the same high-quality SIGPRO Premium Screen and protective components found in our complete SIG Enclosures, such as the SIG8, SIG10, and SIG12. The primary distinction lies in the frame: the DIY kit requires you to source the 1-inch EMT piping locally, whereas the other SIG models include a pre-fabricated frame with color-coded poles and connectors for immediate assembly.

While the SIG8 is designed as a compact solution ideal for spaces as narrow as 9 feet, the DIY kit provides flexibility in frame construction, allowing you to adapt to unique room layouts. Both the DIY enclosure and the pre-built SIG models feature the SIGPRO screen, which has been independently tested by MyGolfSpy for superior durability, reduced sound, and minimal bounce-back. This ensures that regardless of which SIG enclosure you choose, you'll benefit from a premium impact screen capable of withstanding ball speeds up to 250 MPH and delivering crisp, high-definition visuals. The SIG8, for instance, offers two screen options, including the Premier Impact Screen, highlighting the versatility and quality across the SIG Signature Series.

Frequently asked questions

Does the DIY enclosure include the frame?

No, the DIY Golf Simulator Enclosure does not include the pipe/tube for the frame. The 1" EMT (Electrical Metallic Tubing) needs to be purchased separately from local hardware stores like Lowe's or Home Depot. We do, however, offer pre-cut DIY pipe kits for purchase separately.

Is the screen the same as the SIG Series?

Yes. The DIY enclosure uses the same SIGPRO Premium impact screen as our SIG8, SIG10 and SIG12 enclosures, rated to golf ball impacts up to 250 MPH.

What sizes are available?

The Indoor Golf Shop's SIG limited warranty covers manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship for one year.

How to put together my DIY Golf Simulator Enclosure?

Assembling your Shop Indoor Golf DIY Golf Simulator Enclosure involves constructing the frame, hanging the enclosure sides, and then attaching the impact screen. You will need to purchase 1" EMT pipes separately from a local hardware store like Lowe's or Home Depot, as they are not included in the kit. We offer a video tutorial to guide you through the setup process.

How hard is it to build a DIY Golf Simulator Enclosure?

The DIY Golf Simulator Enclosure is designed for those who are comfortable with do-it-yourself projects and have their own tools and materials. While the kit provides the necessary enclosure components, you will need to purchase the 1" EMT pipe for the frame separately from a local hardware store. Golf enclosure with pipe kit

The enclosure is great. Pipe kit that we bought is heavy duty and seems like it’ll last for a long time. Definitely will use the company again for future needs.

DIY Golf Simulator Enclosure Components

You Build the Frame, We Supply the Rest

The DIY Golf Simulator Enclosure keeps costs down by letting you build the frame yourself from pipe you source locally, cut to our build instructions. Everything that makes it a simulator bay comes from us: the SIGPRO™ Premium impact screen, the surround sized to your enclosure, protective foam padding, 6" ball bungees, and the hardware that joins the frame.

The kit includes 3-way, L and straight connectors with M8 screws and an Allen key, so once your pipe is cut the frame goes together quickly and squarely. It is the right choice if you are comfortable with a little building, want a bay sized exactly to your room, or want our screen for less than a Signature Series enclosure. Custom sizes are available too.

DIY Golf Simulator enclosure with components

Ten Sizes, Same SIGPRO Screen

Choose from ten sizes across 1:1, 4:3, 16:10 and 16:9, from a compact 8'4" x 8'4" bay up to 15'4" wide, so you can match the enclosure to your garage, basement or spare room and to your projector's image. Each size comes with its own matching surround, and the listing shows the assembled width, height and depth and the viewable screen size.  Also available are full custom/bespoke sizing available and made-to-order per your exact specifications.

Every size uses the same SIGPRO™ Premium impact screen as our Signature Series, built to withstand impacts at up to 250 MPH with an HD-quality image, and you can upgrade to the gray SIGPRO™ Premier for rooms with ambient light. The surround and padding help keep bounce-back and noise down, and the screen hangs from your frame with the included 6" ball bungees through its grommets.
